Arusha National Park packs remarkable variety into a small area: the forested slopes of Mount Meru, the flamingo-dotted Momella Lakes, and the green bowl of Ngurdoto Crater. Giraffe, buffalo, colobus monkey and a rich birdlife are commonly seen.
It is one of the few Tanzanian parks where guided walking safaris with an armed ranger are permitted, and it serves as the starting point for the Mount Meru trek.
